platform holder Microsoft is planning to shake things up at this year’s E3 gaming expo.

E3 2018 doesn’t take place until June this year, but that hasn’t stopped Microsoft talking about its plans for the event.

Appearing on Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb’s podcast, Xbox boss Phil Spencer told fans to expect “positive changes” at E3.

“I don’t think we’ve talked about yet, but I think will be some positive changes at E3,” Spencer revealed (via Gamespot). “Could be fun for us; it’ll be a nice change.”

It’s possible Microsoft will hold more public events, similar to the approach adopted by EA in recent years.

One game that could appear at Microsoft’s E3 press conference is Fable 4, which is reportedly in development.

Former Lionhead developer Don Williamson recently suggested that Fable 4 is in development.

“Mmm ok, having no inside information, I totally know who’s building Fable 4 now. Interesting choice…” he tweeted.

It’s been speculated that Playground Studios is working on the game, especially given a recent job advert that referenced a triple-A action-RPG.

A follow-up report on Eurogamer backs up earlier rumours that Forza Horizon studio Playground is working on the title.

Approximately 200 members of staff are said to be working on the game, which is currently without a release date.

Fable 4 will reportedly take the form of an open-world role-playing game.

This is in stark contrast to the previously cancelled Fable Legends, which was an asymmetrical multiplayer game.

One player would have assumed the role of the villain, while the rest of the players would team up to complete objectives.
