But many fans of Tupac Shakur have never wanted to believe he died.
Conspiracy theorists have long put forward theories about what really happened to the California Love star.
Now one fan claims to have the proof Tupac didn’t die on September 13, 1996.
A YouTuber called Michael Nice, who claims he has a contact who knows the rapper’s location posted a shocking video on the site.
“If that’s not Pac that is the best lookalike I’ve ever seen”
In the 10-minute clip he shows a picture which he claims shows Tupac in Africa being transported from one safe camp to another.
And in a sensational claim, Michael says the rapper will “probably” reveal himself on September 13, 2019.
In a warning, Michael says: “If anything should happen to me, that picture will to the world.”
He then holds the picture up to the camera, claiming to show Tupac.
The picture shows three people, two white and one black, who Michael says is the iconic rapper.
Michael goes on to say the picture will hopefully be released “when the OK is given”.
Some YouTube commenters were convinced, with one writing: “Wow, that’s him! The Don Makaveli lives!”
Another wrote: “If that’s not Pac that is the best lookalike I’ve ever seen.”
While others weren’t so convinced.
One wrote: “At a distance, yeah there are similarities, took a screenshot then zoomed in, seems like the man doesn’t really look like him, the smile is different.”
Tupac was shot after watching a Mike Tyson boxing match at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 7, 1995.
He was given two separate operations in the next 24 hours but was pronounced dead on the 13th almost a week after the shooting.
