Tesla has helped a car fan suffering from terminal cancer fulfil his dream of owning the firm’s Model 3 electric car.

The customer, from Grass Valley, California, had already preordered his car and had been posting in an online forum speculating about the delivery dates for the vehicle.

His post was spotted by a fellow owner who sent it to a friend at Tesla – culminating in a factory tour and his car being delivered just days later.

‘Well, I’d love to see November deliveries!’ he posted in a Tesla online forum on November 17th. He has chosen to remain anonymous.

‘I have a terminal stage 4 cancer and have been told I may only 3-4 months to live.

‘The last thing on my bucket list is our Model 3 and I’d like to have a few days to experience and enjoy it.

‘I wonder if there is any flexibility in the queue?’

The post was first spotted by Bonnie Norman, an angel investor for Stack Lighting, who passed it onto a friend who works for Tesla.

‘Every single person I contacted went above and beyond what I was asking them,’ she told Dailymail.com

‘It actually took a while to persuade him to give me his contact info, as he thought I was a scammer,’ she said.

Norman, who owns a Tesla Model X and is a huge fan of Elon Musk’s car firm, admitted she was shocked by the response.

‘People wanted to be part of something.

‘It’s been incredible – and it’s made us all feel good.’

Norman said the new owner has loved cars all his life, and has a background in technology, making him and his wife the perfect customers for the $35,000 electric car.

‘They’re loving the car, they have groupies now, people have been spotting them around town and posting pictures online.’

Norman first asked a friend of hers at Tesla to show off her own Model 3 after seeing his post.

‘I asked Devina Singh, a friend who works for Tesla & owns a Model 3, if she’d show off her car so he could experience it at least,’ she tweeted.

‘On 11/25, she was at his house, insisting he drive the car hard.’

Two days later, he was given access to the configuration page, where buyers can customize their vehicle and add features like enhanced autopilot, premium seats and their choice of color, and on Wednesday, he took delivery of the car.

‘The factory arranged a tour, and even got him a gift bag, and there has been no publicity from them about it –  it’s been a wonderful, warm response.’

When picking up his car, he was even given a factory tour with a personal demonstration from Jon McNeill, President of Global Sales & Service at Tesla.

‘Private factory tour, intros around, everyone grinning to be part of this,’ said Norman.

‘No one from Tesla looking to publicize, everyone involved with the purest of intentions.

She said there were ‘lots of tears’ as the car was delivered.

‘Oh! And he and his wife have their new Model 3,’ she tweeted with the final pictures.

‘Lots of tears around. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays. My heart is full. Thanks everyone.’
