Man Utd are looking to bounce back from their disappointing 2-2 draw with Leicester three days ago.
Jose Mourinho’s side fell 13 points behind leaders Manchester City after conceding a last minute equaliser.
And Merson thinks they will have a point to prove when they host Sean Dyche’s overachieving side at Old Trafford.
The former Arsenal midfielder believes that Mourinho’s team will be way too strong for their visitors and has predicted a 4-0 home win.
Merson also reckons the Portuguese boss will be furious with how his side performed last time out and will demand a response.
“It is alright saying we missed chance after chance, but Man Utd’s final pass was sometimes atrocious and if I was the manager, I would have been fuming,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“At the highest level, that was poor.
“To just let players drop off and get the ball against 10 men.
“But I am going to go for Man Utd, they are going to beat someone soon, so I am going to go 4-0 as I think losing to Spurs will have affected Burnley on Saturday.
“They got well beaten and I just think Man Utd are waiting for the goals to start flowing, while James Tarkowski is a big miss for Burnley – you saw that on Saturday.”
Burnley are currently seventh in the table and could climb as high as fourth if they upset the odds and other results go their way.
