Man Utd news: Man City tunnel bust-up blown out of proportion – ESPN pundit Shaka Hislop | Football | Sport

Former Premier League star Shaka Hislop says the fracas will have been blown out of proportion though.

United and City went head-to-head with eight points between them at the top of the table.

And Pep Guardiola’s men managed to extend the lead over their local rivals thanks to David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi’s goals.

United took issue with the way City celebrated their victory – the 14th they’ve secured in a row in the Premier League.

And Jose Mourinho apparently clashed with Blues stopper Ederson as tempers boiled over.

But Hislop says more will have been made of the incident than there needs to be.

“I’ve been involved in a couple of tunnel bust-ups as it were,” he told ESPN FC TV.

“They sound worse than they actually are. There’s just too many people in the tunnel.

“Everybody’s just shouting abuse at each other. Not a whole lot else going on.

“As it turns out, complaints coming out from Manchester United saying that Manchester City are the ones who were antagonising.

“But then, at the same time, two Manchester City staff members are the ones who come off the worst.

“Again, I read nothing into it. Emotions are flying high, these things happen.

“As I say, most of the time it’s all smoke and no fire.”

United and City renew their rivalry when they meet at the Etihad on Saturday April 7.
