Dakota Johnson speaks out on Fifty Shades movies with Jamie Dornan | Films | Entertainment

The actress played Anastasia Steele in the franchise, which grossed well over $1 billion overall.

She admitted in a recent interview that there were multiple challenges and difficulties over the process, but now she’s clarified that she is incredibly “proud” of her work.

“It wasn’t mindless work, I was interested in it and I respected it,” she told the Herald Sun.

“I’m proud of those films and I don’t feel like I need to break free from them.”

She added: “Would I do it again? Yeah, if I were back in my circumstances before those movies, I’d for sure do it again.

“They have led my career to an incredible place and I have also grown so much from them.

“Even if there were some bumps in the road, I learned from them and they’ve made me resilient.”

She starred alongside Jamie Dornan in the erotic films; which underwent a lot of behind the scenes difficulties after the first instalment.

Speaking to the Times last month, she was asked about the notorious troubles that saw director Sam Taylor-Johnson leave amid a clash with creator EL James.

Asked if it was “tricky” to continue, Johnson said: “Extremely.

“I signed up to a film with a Patrick Marber screenplay, directed by Sam, and it just turned into something completely different.”

When Taylor-Johnson left, Johnson and Dornan were contracted to make the remaining two movies.

“It did exactly what it was supposed to do, and turned out great, but it shape-shifted in the night,” the star added.

The movies are best-known for their huge numbers of sex scenes, which Johnson called “tedious” to keep filming.

“Shooting two films back to back, where the majority is the same, over and over, did get a little bit tedious,” she said.

“It became, ‘how are we going to make this goddamn sex scene better than the other ones?’ There’s only so much you can do when the film is rated R.”

She is now promoting Suspiria, which is out in the UK on November 16.
