Little baby Ava would have turned one on December 30, 2017.
Her terrible loss was marked by her big brother Alex, who serenaded a picture of her, not knowing that his parents and then the whole world would be watching.
He plucked at his treasured imitation Coco toy guitar as he gave a touching rendition of the song Remember Me from the new Disney Pixar movie.
A proud Twitter post from Alex and Ava’s parents quickly went viral and over 1.3 million people have viewed the video in the last few days.
SCROLL DOWN TO WATCH ALEX’S TOUCHING TRIBUTE TO HIS SISTER.
The video has been covered by news outlets around the world and the family say they are “humbled” by all the attention.
The post is even more powerful because the movie itself deals with themes of family, loss and remembering those who have died.
It centres around the Mexican Day of the Dead and follows one young boy as he sets out to discover why his family refuses to talk about his long-lost great-grandfather.
Ava and Alex’s parents have stressed that they never expected this level of attention.
Dad Sam wrote: My wife and I were literally brought to tears seeing how much love Alex and Ava and our family has received. We were FLOORED last night!! I couldn’t be more thankful. Thank you to everyone from our little family! What a 1st birthday baby girl!”
He also posted another moving video of Alex pointing to the sky and finding Ava in the clouds above him.
Sam stressed that the family had no intentions of benefiting in any way form the huge attenton.
He wrote: “WE AREN’T GOING TO LICENSE AND MAKE MONEY OFF OF A VIDEO OF OUR SON SINGING TO HIS LATE BABY SISTER.”
The top pinned post on his profle shares the incredible news that a new baby is on the way, tagged as a “rainbow baby” for something that brings light and joy after a terrible storm.
