Truth seekers were quick to spot what they claim are strange structures on the Bennu asteroid taken by NASA.
They claim foul play on behalf of the space agency and that they deliberately “lied to the public” to hide the “truth”.
One of the images shows a “pyramid” structure on the space rock, it’s claimed.
Hunter Scott C. Waring on the popular blog UFO Sightings Daily said: “I found some strange things in this new HD photo of Asteroid Bennu.
“First off, NASA deliberately made the asteroid look farther away, smaller so the public could not see the details.
“Just add light and focus and we clearly see the actual photo is much smaller! They lied to us!”
He then highlights a section of the asteroid and writes “pyramid”, as he shows an alleged alien structure.
The conspiracy theorist adds: “I found a pyramid that has a triangle shadow.
“Third, near the edge of the asteroid is a square structure with window or entrance openings along its sides.
“Fourth there is a tall structure in the upper right side of the asteroid.”
He then claims the reason NASA made the object “look further away” is because they “didn’t want the public to know that alien structures exist on it”.
But there could be simpler explanations than a NASA cover-up.
Pareidolia is a psychological phenomenon when the brain tricks the eyes into seeing familiar patterns or shapes.
This is the same phenomenon seen after NASA’s Viking spacecraft photographed the infamous “Face On Mars” in 1976.
But when more clear photos were taken, the rocky surface was clearer.
